| I began this piece with a tree in
mind. Turn it upside down and you'll see how the figure could
have become a tree trunk. In reverse, a shepherd emerged and
gradually the sheep and lambs appeared. To my surprise, as the
picture developed, the young shepherd boy had one good leg on his
right and a prosthesis on the left side. An inspiration I
thought, "We are all called to shepherd one another in spite of our
own wounded-ness." Soon there followed Wounded Shepherds no. 2
and no. 3. |
