The painting featured is a beautiful abstract titled, "Holy Family". Sister Maria created Holy Family using a very unique form of paper batik. The painting will be on display for the entire month of January 2014.
The Arkansas League of Artists has a wonderful display in the lobby of the U.S. Bank branch at the corner of Spring St. and Capitol, in downtown Little Rock. There, they exhibit one of their member's paintings each month. This month, the feature artist is our own Sister Maria Liebeck, DC!

Here are the pictures from Tuesday, October 1st ArkPastel Paint-Around. Six of us volunteered to participate. We do this every couple of years and the members enjoy it. First, each member brings a picture to use for their subject (I brought a photo of an old building on the campus of St. Joseph's. A man who grew up when that was a home for children, and who volunteers there, told me they always called it "Sister Charlene's Shop"). Second, artists are given 10 minutes to begin their work. After 10 minutes each artist moves to the easel next to her/him and spends the same time painting their neighbor's artwork. This keeps going until everyone returns to their own painting. Finally, you have 10 minutes to complete your "masterpiece"!
